The purpose of this Economic Development Committee is to insure the continued and progressive development of the business districts; to provide a prosperous and attractive place for residents of the city to shop and to maximize the use of the limited commercial property in the city. The Economic Development Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Aldermen.

This committee is composed of eight members consisting of the chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission and 7 other members whose terms shall be for a two year duration.  No more than three members may be elected officials with others consisting of the local business community. All members are appointed by the Mayor with the Board of Aldermen approval.  The City Engineer is an ex-officio, non-voting member.
